Hi! Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA called Newtown Square. In 1986, I received a B.A. in Math/Physics from Immaculata College . Upon graduating, I began working as systems engineer/aerospace engineer for General Electric in Valley Forge, PA. While working for GE, I attended Villanova University and received a M.A. in Mathematics in 1989. Shortly thereafter, I left GE and began working as a systems programmer for SEI, in Wayne, PA.
After seven years, I left the "corporate rat race" to pursue a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
After receiving my doctorate degree, I worked as an Assistant Professor in the Mathematics Department at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo from 1997-2000. I am now working as an Assistant Professor, specializing in mathematics education, in the College of Education at the University of Arizona.
I am the author of Numeracy and Literacy: Teaching K-8 Mathematics Using Children's Literature (ADP Productions, 2006).
My hobbies and interests include traveling to tropical islands (I love the Caribbean) and astronomy.
